ALSO at SLIS Orientation

On September 1st, 2009, the ALSO executive committee represented our newly official Registered Student Organization at the new SLIS student orientation. Amanda Kramer gave a short presentation on the benefits of joining ALSO and what types of activities we have planned for this Fall, and Jessica Gile Hutchings briefly presented on WAAL, the state organization for academic librarians. Roy Brooks and Jessica Gile Hutchings also led small interest discussion groups for new students interested in academic librarianship, and all three represented ALSO at the table/poster display session.

Sara White, Jessica Gile Hutchings and Roy Brooks all stayed to mingle with the new students at the Lasagna Dinner sponsored by the SLIS alumni foundation. During the dinner, WLA donated one free year-long student membership to WLA and WAAL as a raffle prize for one new student, the lucky winner of which was new SLIS student, Anna Fulton. Congratulations Anna! We look forward to your participation in both state and student organizations.
