Update on the SLIS bus to ALA Chicago: Reserve your spot by June 1


Update: If you would like to reserve a spot on the bus, please do so by *JUNE 1*.
After June 1, spots on the bus will be offered to others. (You don't have to pay until June 22.)


Here's the original message:
SLIS will send a bus to the ALA conference on Sunday, July 12. All
students are invited to attend. SLIS is paying for a portion of the bus
charter, so the student rate for the trip is only $20 per person.

Any remaining spots on the bus after June 1 will be offered to others.


Because we must make a deposit on our charter we will need advance
payment from you by June 22. Checks, $20 payable to UW Madison, can be
given/sent to me or left in my SLIS mailbox #435. You can reserve your
spot now and pay in June if you prefer.


The bus will depart from UW's Memorial Union at 7:30 a.m. on
Sunday, July 12 and will go directly to McCormick Place (the ALA
exhibit hall) in Chicago. The bus will return that evening from
downtown Chicago (read on for details). ALA offers free shuttle buses
during the day between McCormick Place and the downtown hotels, so you
can make your own way downtown. You are invited to attend the SLIS
alumni reunion (free food, cash bar), which will be held at Brasserie
Jo in downtown Chicago, 59 W. Hubbard Street, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The bus will pick up at Brasserie Jo at 7:30 and be back in Madison at
approximately 10:30 p.m. (If you bring a car to campus you can park it
for free in Helen C. White upper or lower parking on Sundays.)
