It's official, we are teaming up with the SLIS lab library staff to throw a fundraising Game Night for SLIS students, faculty, and staff and their friends and families!
The SLIS lab staff will be sponsoring the event by providing pizza, so ALSO members are asked to bring a snack and/or beverages for the event, in sort of a pot-luck manner. Please email Jessica at jgile@wisc.edu or comment to this blog post with the food you plan to bring. Suggestions include: soda, pretzels, chips, popcorn, cookies, bars, etc.
The cost to attend is $2, which will get participants refreshments and a raffle ticket toward door prizes. We have asked other SLIS student organizations to donate prizes for the event, and the grand prize for evening will be a raffle prize of $30 to cover the student registration fee at the WAAL conference in April.
All left over money taken in from the entry fees will go into the ALSO treasury and cover costs for field trip travel costs and other activities.
Please plan to attend and support our new group so we can get it off the ground and running! Please email Mike Brost at mjbrost@wisc.edu if you have any games you can bring to play. We are looking for adult and children's board games and Wii games.
We look forward to a fun-filled night with all of our fellow SLIS-ers!
I'm bringing the family to this event...what kinds of kids games will there be? I have an 8-year-old, 6-year-old and 4-year-old...or should I bring some??
ReplyDeleteAmanda, would you mind bringing some age-appropriate kids games to make sure we have some?
ReplyDeleteI plan to bring apples to apples, cranium, monopoly, risk, uno, and a set of traditional games like checkers & chess etc.
I also will bring candy, pop, cups, napkins, and small prizes as my contribution to the "potluck" snacks.
After shopping for things to bring for the game night on Friday, I have decided to pick up plates, napkins, cups, and lots of prizes. I will not be bringing soda, so if someone else wants to contribute that, I'd appreciate it :)
